The Magic 8 Ball is a classic fortune telling device. When I was growing up, I remember one of my older cousins had one and I loved playing with it, although I struggled to get it to give me really dynamic answers to my questions. Fast forward to 2023, and I present a Tentacula Fortune Teller review.
I’m a subscriber to Full Moon’s YouTube channel and saw that a new video had been released (their video releases are sporadic) so I watched it, which included a segment about their new Fortune Teller device. I bought it, and shortly after, it arrived in the mail. Check out my video to see my hands on review.
The box is nice looking, so I opened it up and found the instructions, a USB cable, and the device inside a velvet-like small sack. The device is about the size of a smartphone, but it’s made of metal and is very hefty. It has quite a bit of weight to it. I fully charged the device, gave the instructions a cursory read, and then turned the device on. All of the main controls are at the bottom, including the volume button, USB input, and power toggle (on, off, and silent modes). You turn the device on and it asks you to “ask your question”. You then place your finger on the touchpad, which claims to “read your mood”. Then you ask your question and gently push the button. Check out my video above to see how the unit plays, but it essentially spits out an answer to your question based on your mood (you’ve got to believe!). It’s pretty cool! I ran through it a few times and it didn’t duplicate any of my answers, although it often gave a similarly worded answer. Check out their official video below.
As I’ve eluded to throughout my Tentacula Fortune Teller review, the device is fun, especially in a group setting where drinks are flowing. It’s a sturdy metal device, but at $90, it’s not that cheap. There is also a free app for it in the Apple App Store, so there is a free alternative that’s officially released by the manufacturer. While I didn’t install the app, having the standalone device is a lot more fun, since it allegedly reads your mood and that provides for a more fun experience.
